Privacy

What we collect
This is a static site with no accounts, no comment system, no advertising network and no analytics profile built on you. Our hosting provider processes standard server logs — IP address, user agent, requested URL — for delivery and security.
Cookies and local storage
We set one local-storage flag to remember that you dismissed the cookie notice. That is all. See cookies.
If you write to us, we keep the message so we can act on it and answer you. We do not add you to a mailing list; we do not run one.
Third parties
Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers. Outbound links to companies we review go to those companies' own sites, which have their own policies.
Your rights
Ask us what we hold and we will tell you, and delete it on request: contact.
Server logs, in detail
Our host records the same information any web server records: the IP address the request came from, the time, the URL requested, the response code, the size of the response, the user agent string and, where the browser sends one, the referring page. That data exists so the site can be delivered and so abusive traffic can be blocked. We do not join it to anything else, we do not build profiles from it, and we do not sell or share it.
What we deliberately do not run
There is no advertising network on this site, no retargeting pixel, no social-media tracking script, no session recording, no heatmap tool, no A/B testing framework, no chat widget and no newsletter signup. Those are the usual sources of tracking on a review site, and none of them is here. The practical consequence is that we know far less about our readers than a typical publisher does, which is a trade we are happy with.
Outbound links
When you click through to a management company, a booking platform, a government page or one of our own picks, you leave this site and the destination's own privacy practices apply. We do not pass any information about you in those links beyond what your browser sends automatically. Links to companies we review carry a nofollow attribute, which is a search-engine instruction rather than a privacy measure, but it is worth stating alongside.
Children
This site is written for property owners and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
International readers
The site is hosted on a content-delivery network with edge locations around the world, so a copy of these pages may be served from a machine near you. That does not change what is collected. If you are in a jurisdiction with specific data-protection rights — the UK and EU in particular — you may exercise them by writing to us; we hold so little that most requests can be answered in a sentence.
Changes to this notice
If we ever add something that collects data — analytics, a contact form, anything — this page changes first and the review date at the top changes with it. We will not quietly start collecting more than we describe here.
Email we receive from you
If you write to us with a correction, a question or a complaint, we keep the message and our reply so that the correction can be traced back to its source later. That is the only durable record of a reader we hold. We do not add correspondents to any list, we do not pass addresses to the companies discussed on this site, and we will delete a thread on request unless it is the evidence behind a published correction — in which case we will tell you so and remove your identifying details instead.
Why a static site is a privacy decision
This site is a set of pre-built HTML files. There is no database, no login, no user account and no server-side code that could store anything about a visit even if we wanted it to. That architecture was chosen partly for speed and partly because the safest way to protect reader data is not to be in a position to collect it. It also means there is no breach risk of the usual kind: there is nothing to leak.
What we would have to change to break this promise
Adding analytics, a comment system, a newsletter, a lead form or an advertising partner. Each of those is a visible change to the site and each would be disclosed here before it shipped. If you ever see one of those on this site without a corresponding paragraph on this page, treat it as a bug and tell us.
A plain-language summary
If you read nothing else on this page: we do not know who you are, we do not try to find out, and there is no system here that could tell us. The site is a folder of files. Your browser fetches them, our host writes a line in a log, and that is the whole relationship unless you choose to email us.
The reason to spell this out at length rather than in a sentence is that "we value your privacy" has become a phrase that means nothing. The specifics above are checkable: open your browser's developer tools on any page of this site and watch the network panel. You will see requests for this domain's own files and two requests to Google's font servers. Nothing else. That is a claim you can verify in thirty seconds rather than take on trust, which is how every claim on this site is meant to work.
