We are not a successor to it, we do not speak for it, we do not publish on its behalf, and no part of this site should be read as its work or as carrying its approval.

Ad 2 Hawaiʻi publishes its own website at ad2hawaii.org — that is the place to go for its membership, programmes, events and awards. Please do not contact us about them; we cannot help, and we do not want your message to go to the wrong desk.

What this site actually is

Hale & Host is an independent editorial review site about vacation-rental management companies and host software for people who own rental property in Hawaiʻi. It covers 38 island markets across Oʻahu, Maui, Hawaiʻi Island and Kauaʻi. Its editorial standards are set out in our editorial policy, and its commercial interest is declared on the about page.

Other names that appear on this site

The same principle applies to every other name here. We write about management companies by name because you cannot compare companies anonymously; we quote what they publish, we link to the page we read it from, and we mark their links so search engines do not read them as endorsements. None of them is a partner, a client or an advertiser, and none of them has approved a word of what we say about them.

Booking platforms appear by name for the same reason — an owner needs to know which channels a manager distributes to. Government bodies appear because we send you to them for the questions we refuse to answer ourselves. In every case the name is used to identify the organisation, which is what nominative reference means, and in no case does it imply a relationship.

Trademarks

“Ad 2 Hawaiʻi”, “Ad 2 Honolulu”, “Ad 2”, the American Advertising Federation and every other name mentioned on this site belong to their respective owners. They are used here only to identify the organisations concerned — nominative reference — and never to suggest a relationship that does not exist.

This site is likewise not affiliated with any government agency or county planning department, the Hawaiʻi Department of Taxation, any visitor bureau, any trade association, Airbnb, Vrbo, or any of the management companies reviewed on it. Why we publish this at all

Two reasons, both practical. The first is that people arrive here looking for something else, and the quickest way to help them is to say so plainly on a page of its own rather than in small print at the bottom. The second is that a review site's whole value rests on readers being able to tell who is speaking. Any ambiguity about who publishes this site would undermine every other page on it, so we would rather over-state the separation than leave it to be inferred.

What "not affiliated" covers, specifically

• No common ownership, control, management or staff.
• No sponsorship, funding, membership, partnership or licensing arrangement in either direction.
• No editorial input from them, and no content on this site supplied by or approved by them.
• No use of their name, marks or materials beyond identifying them in this statement.

About that organisation, briefly and factually

Ad 2 Hawaiʻi is a professional organisation for people early in their careers in advertising, marketing and communications in Hawaiʻi. It is a live, active organisation with its own website, its own membership and its own programmes, and it has nothing whatever to do with vacation rentals, property management or this publication. We describe it here only so that anyone who arrived looking for it can recognise that they are in the wrong place and go to the right one: ad2hawaii.org.

Nothing on this site should be read as commentary on that organisation. We have no relationship with it, no view about it, and no standing to have one.

If you reached us by mistake

Please do not send us membership enquiries, event questions, award submissions, sponsorship proposals or press requests intended for them — we cannot forward them and we do not want your message to go unanswered. Their own site is the right route.

We have deliberately given this statement its own page, its own place in the site navigation and a line in the footer of every page, rather than tucking it into a disclaimer nobody opens. A statement of non-affiliation is only worth anything if the people who need it can actually find it.
